Bangalore commercial space  Carlton- Towers got clearance from Fire and Emergency services department, Chief electrical inspector to the government (CEIG) and also the Occupation Certificate (OC) from Buhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)

(FROM LEFT) The members of the Carlton Towers Owners' Association-C V Govardhan (Past Secretary), Giriraj Sadashiva (Past President), Joseph Thomas (Secretary), Rajesh Sakala (joint secretary) and Arun (Treasurer) addressed a press conference to announce that Carlton Towers has fully complied the regulations and is operational now

"Most of the 160 units are occupied and we are here to offer world class standards in the commercial space." The OC was cleared by BBMP on June 1st, 2017 and the owners received the certificate from the BBMP on June 15th 2017. With BBMP restoring the certificate, Carlton Towers, which is complying with all safety norms, is ready for occupation." said Giriraj Sadashiva , (Carlton Towers Owners Association Committee - Past President)

"They have complied with all the directions of BBMP and have taken up a number of additional initiatives. The size of all three gates to the building conforms to fire safety norms of six meters in width so as to allow fire engine trucks to enter the building with ease in case of an emergency. Meanwhile, the basement is exclusively dedicated for car parking. The ground floor is fully dedicated for retail business. Though only one lift was partially damaged, it was decided to replace all the five lifts with latest technology. The entire electrical work inside the building is replaced with new cables, panels and bus bar system. " said committee's immediate past president Rekha Hamilton.

"We have also removed all the old electrical installation. The sub-station is provided with new group control vacuum circuit breaker ( V.C.B) with measures of abundant caution for automatic power shut off at substation in the event of an electrical surge," added committee's joint secretary Rajesh Sakala.

"We have replaced the old generators with 3 powerful and safe generator of a total capacity of 1,500 KVA ( 500 KVA*3 No’s )   for 100 per cent back up for the building. The entire fire fighting systems; sprinkler / smoke detector / fire extinguisher/ fire hydrant / PA system / signage / marking of escape routes and fire order boards have been newly replaced at all the required places and the grounding switch has been provided as per requirement. The old fire resistant doors have been replaced with brand new fire resistant doors in all the floors. The building has been updated with the latest systems, confirming and going beyond all the fire safety regulations. So, we can proudly say that a maximum distance to fire exit staircase a person should move in an event of an emergency in this building is only around 18 meters which is far better than the National Building Code (N.B.C) which stipulates it to be of 30 meters." said C V Govardhan, Committee's past secretary.

"the lift lobbies are more than 2.5 times of minimum requirement standard of the N.B.C and is not used as a thoroughfare. Some of the occupants in the building are trained in fire provision, fire fighting and evacuation in an emergency at the prestigious R.A.Mundukur fire and emergency academy in Bengaluru to meet the fire and safety guidelines which mandate that at least 40 per cent of occupants be trained as per the norms. The electrical and other ducts have been sealed at alternate floor level to prevent the possible travel of smoke and fire to other level" committee's secretary Mr Joseph Thomas said.

"Today, we are happy to share the above modifications and facilities at Carlton Towers to showcase that ours is one the best and safest commercial spaces in the entire country." said Varnit Jain – Committee Member.
